Verb 'TENER'

The Spanish verb "tener" means "to have" and is irregular in its conjugation. Since it's irregular, its conjugations change in different tenses (tengo, tienes, tiene...).

It is used to express possession (tengo un coche - I have a car), age (tengo 25 años - I am 25 years old), and various idiomatic expressions like tener hambre - to be hungry or tener razón - to be right.

It also forms obligations with "tener que" + infinitive (Tengo que estudiar = I have to study).
